I am Karen Holland, Chuck Holloway's widow. We were married for 18 wonderful years.
I miss his humor, that great laugh and mostly his loving hugs. The reason
I'm writing is that I am planning to write a book about Chuck's struggles
with cancer. You see, his cancer affected his voice. It originated on his
tongue base and spread to his neck. By trying to save his voice we opted to
try chemo instead of surgery which would have removed his larynyx, but the
chemo reacted very badly to his chemistry and he forever lost his signature
voice. That would be horrible to anyone but to one who loved Rock and Roll
as much as Chuck did, and made his living with his voice it was beyond
devastating, but he fought as hard as he could.
I would like to ask those who knew Chuck to send me a "Chuck story" if they
would like to - My e-mail address is kbh701@aol.com. Or I would just like to
hear from some of his old radio buddies. Don't know if this is possible
here. If not, could you make any other suggestions as to where I could ask
for this? Thanks so much. I remember how thrilled Chuck was when he found
his name in this directory! He always just considered himself a guy who
liked music and liked to play records....
