Gary remembers:

My name is Gary Hamilton, and I am a KHJ fanatic. I remember taking my radio to school to listen to the first days of Boss Radio. Some friends and I took an RTD bus to the Beatles concert at Dodger Stadium. On the way home, the bus dropped us off to wait for another bus. Another bus never came. We were on this corner somewhere in Boss Angeles for hours. Our only companion was Johnny Williams. It was a thrill to be a stupid kid and work inside KHJ as a request phone operator.

Johnny Williams!!! I loved your "SLOW" KHJ Jingle. I stayed up many a night listening to you.

My first job in radio was as a request phone operator at KHJ and I remember seeing you in the jock lounge several times. I'm sure you don't remember me, since I was only there for a few months.

From KHJ, I went to Bakersfield to break into the business. The next move was Tucson (another town you worked in). Then it was San Diego. While in San Diego, I worked part time at KMGG in Los Angeles. I was luckly enough to land a job at RKO's WFYR in Chicago. From 1990-1997, I did afternoons at WLIF, Baltimore; worked part-time at oldies formatted WQSR, Baltimore; and my headphones are hanging part-time at WASH/WBIG, Washington, DC and WLIF, Baltimore.

Through all the moves, I still have my collection of KHJ BOSS THIRTY SURVEYS and hours of airchecks. I asked Robert W. Morgan about you several years back. When the gig at KHJ ended, you wanted to stay in the land of palm trees. He said there was a palm tree in the lobby of the station in Pittsburgh! It was a pleasure to e-mail you. I'll have to get out one of your airchecks.
