I shared the airwaves with some of the great gentlemen and giants
in the industry: Dick Purtan at WXYZ (and Specs Howard before him), Jim
Dunbar at KGO, Dr. Don Rose ar KFRC, Gordon McLendon and Kevin McCarthy at
KNUS, Jody Dean at KRLD.
I covered some pivotal trials: the Detroit police officers accused of
excessive force after the 1967 riots; The Angela Davis-Ruchell Magee
murder trial in San Rafael and San Jose; Huey Newton's manslaughter trial
for the death of an Oakland cop. Working a lead in the Patty Hearst
kidnapping, thought I might be in a position to help crack the case (and
might have, except for weak-kneed corporate management).
Left the business for a marketing career in the 80s, jumped right back
into radio in the 90s. Still in it, against all the odds.
